Before you adopt an animal from our shelter, you will need to meet with one of our adoption counselors and complete the adoption approval guidelines. It's very simple...you will need to:

	Complete an adoption application.
	Provide a rental agreement, if applicable.
	Provide vet references. If you do not have a current veterinarian, we can provide a list and make an appointment for you.
	Provide proof of spay/neuter for current pets.
	Provide proof of up to date vaccines for all current pets.
	Answer any questions that the adoption counselor might have.

Deciding to adopt a pet is an important decision and we are here to help you through the process. Bare with us, our adoption counselors will work hard to place the right pet with the right home. The staff at the Horry County Humane Society treat each shelter animal as if it were their own. We can be a little protective over our four-legged tenants, and are looking to place each animal in a PERMANENT, loving home. An adoption counselor will ask you questions regarding your home, past and current pets, veterinarian history, children, and your level of pet care knowledge.
